How Much Does Medical Cannabis Cost in the UK?

Cost is one of the biggest considerations for people exploring medical cannabis in the UK. Alongside the price of prescribed medication, patients may need to consider consultation fees, follow-up appointments and delivery costs when working out what treatment could cost over time.

At CB1 Medical, we believe pricing should be clear from the start. Our approach is built around a one-off initial consultation fee, free ongoing clinical care for life and a wide choice of prescribed medications at different price points. In this guide, we break down the costs involved and explain how we aim to make specialist medical cannabis care as accessible as possible.

How Much Does CB1 Medical Cost?

One of the most important things to consider when comparing medical cannabis clinics is the ongoing cost of clinical care, rather than simply looking at the price of the first appointment.

At CB1 Medical, new patients pay a one-off £50 initial consultation fee. After your initial consultation, your ongoing clinical care and follow-up appointments with CB1 Medical are free for life.

This means there is no annual subscription or recurring clinic membership fee to continue accessing your clinical care through CB1 Medical.

If, following your assessment, our clinical team determines that you are not eligible for medical cannabis treatment, your £50 initial consultation fee will be refunded.

Free Consultations for Transfers and Veterans

We also offer free initial consultations to certain groups of patients, helping to remove some of the upfront cost of accessing specialist care.

  • Patients transferring from another medical cannabis clinic: If you are already prescribed medical cannabis through another UK clinic and would like to transfer your care to CB1 Medical, your initial consultation is free.
  • Veterans and ex-service personnel: We offer free initial consultations for Veterans and ex-service personnel as part of our commitment to making specialist medical cannabis care more accessible to those who have served.
  • Patients found clinically ineligible: If you pay the standard £50 initial consultation fee and our clinical team determines that medical cannabis is not suitable for you, the consultation fee is refunded.

How Much Does Medical Cannabis Medication Cost?

Medication is charged separately from your clinical care and the amount you pay will depend on what is prescribed by your clinician.

Medical cannabis is available in several different formulations, including cannabis flower, oils, capsules, pastilles and vape cartridges. The appropriate product, formulation and amount will depend on your individual circumstances and treatment plan.

At CB1 Medical, prescribed cannabis flower is available from around £4 per gram, although prices vary depending on the individual medication.

Your clinician will discuss your treatment with you, while the range of available medications means patients can consider price alongside factors such as formulation, cannabinoid profile and their individual clinical requirements.

What Other Costs Should Patients Consider?

When considering the overall cost of medical cannabis treatment, it is important to look beyond the price of the medication itself.

Depending on your prescription, patients should also factor in the cost of delivery. At CB1 Medical, prescriptions are delivered by DPD for £4.99.

Patients who are prescribed cannabis flower will also need a suitable dry herb vaporiser. Prescribed cannabis flower should be used in accordance with your clinician’s instructions and should not be smoked.

Because ongoing clinical care at CB1 Medical is free for life following the initial consultation, patients do not need to factor recurring consultation or clinic membership fees into the ongoing cost of their CB1 treatment.

Our Commitment to Affordable Care

We believe the cost of accessing specialist medical cannabis care should be straightforward and transparent. Patients should be able to understand what they are paying for without having to navigate complicated subscriptions or unexpected ongoing clinic fees.

Our one-off £50 initial consultation, free ongoing clinical care for life, free consultations for Veterans and transferring patients, and range of medication options are all designed to help reduce the financial barriers associated with private medical cannabis treatment.

Medication costs will always vary depending on what is clinically appropriate for the individual, but our aim is to give patients access to a broad range of options while keeping the cost of their ongoing clinical care as simple as possible.
